Task:
Due to market changes in the beverage industry, a batch processing plant comprising eight batch tanks at our client’s facility was slated for decommissioning.
Instead, a new juice tank farm – featuring four new refrigerated storage tanks, a new truck unloading station, and an interface to the new batch processing plant – was to be designed and constructed to produce other products better suited to market demands.
Solution:
In the first step, Lehmann Engineering modified the software (HMI + PLC) to enable the decommissioning of the 8-tank batch plant.
In the second step, we integrated four new refrigerated storage tanks and incorporated the new truck unloading station and the interface to a new batch plant (third-party system) into the existing automation environment. To achieve this, we expanded the SCADA system to include process screens and alarms, as well as the software-side connections for the new field devices and system components.
