Task
A pharmaceutical company pursued the goal of reducing resource consumption and operating costs. To achieve this, a new system consisting of a process water collection system and a reverse osmosis recycling plant was to be developed, constructed, and qualified in accordance with GMP standards. The client expected a turnkey solution from a single source, including specifications, GMP risk analysis, qualification planning, and technical documentation.
Solution
Lehmann Engineering was responsible for the construction, commissioning according to GEP (Good Engineering Practice), and qualification of the recycling plant throughout the entire process, including DQ, IQ, OQ, and PQ. We prepared all relevant documents – including URS, GxP risk analyses, FAT/SAT plans, and qualification plans – and conducted the qualification process in accordance with GMP. Thanks to GMP-compliant recycling of process water, water of drinking water quality is produced. Instead of purchasing drinking water, recycled water is now used, which significantly reduces costs and protects the environment.
Customer benefits
- Project coordination, documentation, and qualification from a single source
- Savings in drinking water through continuous process water recycling with an efficiency of approximately 87% across the entire site (closing the water cycle with an 87 % recovery rate)
- Cost reduction and environmental benefits
