Task
One of our pharmaceutical customers, with whom we have a long-standing and trusting business relationship, already had two plants for the production and filling of liquid medications. Due to increased demand, a third plant was to be built.
The new machine line had to consist of five individual machines: a depalletizer, a filling and capping machine, a bottle labeler and cartoner (including carton labeling), a palletizer, and a strapping machine. In addition, the machine line was to be connected to the higher-level, plant-wide PCS7 control system. Two external label printing systems were to be integrated. The task encompassed automation planning, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for the new machines, commissioning and qualification of the machine line, including several side businesses, and integration to the plant-wide control system.
Solution
Lehmann Engineering took over the entire project. We prepared the specifications, obtained quotes, selected and coordinated the suppliers, and conducted Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) at the supplier´s sites. We managed and coordinated the commissioning at the customer’s site. Finally, we qualified the machines according to GMP standards and handed over the new packaging line to the customer on schedule and ready for operation.
